One of hip hop’s greatest assets, Lil Wayne, is getting ready for some jail time. He is finally set to be charged within the next few months for loading a .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus way back in July 22, 2007. He could get as much as 3 1/2 years in jail, but it’s more likely going to be a year starting early next year, just like fellow southern rapper, T.I.

Apparently some police saw marijuana smoke leaving his tour bus so they ordered people off the bus, and saw Lil Wayne throw a Louis Vuitton bag that held the gun. At least he’s doing it in good fashion, right?

He’s also got another case from last January that will be brought up in March of next year. He is facing a felony for drug possession and weapons charges for that one.

If anything, this whole thing will help Lil Wayne in his music career. I’m still bummed for him though. This story has even got me listening to NWA’s “Fuck Tha Police.”
