The Raveonettes & The Black Angels on stage at First Avenue

*More photos coming soon

The Black Angels are part of the next wave of neo-psychedelic genius. They got their name from The Velvet Underground’s “The Black Angel’s Death Song,” and you can sure hear their influence…mixed with a little 13th Floor Elevators. They were a perfect opener for The Raveonettes. They brought a turbulent vibe that would set anybody in reverie.

So if you didn’t already know…The Raveonettes are cool. Really cool. They mix dark, fuzzy guitar work with fun melodies of early rock n’ roll. They have simple drum beats to keep the sound more minimalist. It works out perfectly. First Ave was filled with walls of sound, and everybody bathed in it.

This was the last show that both The Raveonettes and The Black Angels were touring together so the audience got quite the treat. The Black Angels got up on stage with The Raves. It was something to be remembered.

*I apologize I didn’t get to see the openers Daughters of the Sun or Violent Soho because there was an issue with the list. By the time I came back with money Violent Soho had just finished.
