Upon first seeing Australia’s Violent Soho you’re going to ask yourself three things:

“Is this a resurrection of an early Sub Pop band, and they’re just not telling anybody?”
“Why the hell don’t I have another beer in my hand?”
“Is their lead guitarist actually Brad Pitt from his role in 12 Monkeys (minus the weird eyes)?”

Well you might have a lot of questions (some more relevant than others), but one answer I can assure you’ll get is THIS BAND IS RAD.

I hadn’t heard too much of VS before this show, and I’ll be honest…I was a little worried. Not many bands can pull off that early grunge/powerpop/garage sound. Violent Soho not only proved they can rock, but they also proved that they knew what they were doing when they moved into a somewhat “dead” territory of rock n’ roll. They’ve got a balls-to-the-walls live show, and their style is so bad-ass it makes you forget all about Nirvana’s Bleach reissue.

Violent Soho just signed to Thurston Moore’s Ecstatic Peace! label, and they’re set to drop a new album in March of next year. VS recently opened for The Raveonettes and The Black Angels at First Ave. They also recently opened for Built to Spill and Dinosaur Jr in other states. Now they’re off to open for Band of Skulls and Dead Weather. Not a bad list of bands if you ask me.

Download two of their songs, and keep your eyes open for a show near you.
